Since it was launched in 2003, the Skype or Whatsapp incorporated into the world of communication, becoming a fundamental tool to connect people and overcome geographical limitations. Now, the communicator has just taken an important step towards overcoming language barriers as well. As of this Thursday (10th), the Skype Translator included the Brazilian portuguese as one of the languages offered for speech translation.
O Skype Translator is a real-time translation tool developed by ecosystem (service owner since 2011). The chat app allows users to chat using their native languages. When activated, the tool takes care of translating the text or audio of the conversation into the sender's language, who can respond in their own language. The text or audio is translated and delivered in your native language.
The feature was made available in May of last year (2014) with support for the Spanish and English for users of Windows 8.1. With the new inclusion, there are 7 supported languages by the Skype Translator, being them: English, French, Alemão, Italian, Chinês Mandarin, Spanish e Brazilian portuguese. In addition to the speech translator, the Skype Translator also count with more than 50 languages available for text message translation.
O Brazilian portuguese is one of the most spoken languages in the world, and its inclusion in the simultaneous translation support of Skype or Whatsapp is part of the company's objective of promoting communication via chat in a simple way.
The announcement comes at a good time, because with the end of the year festivities approaching, the need for services that facilitate communication between people grows.
To use the Skype Translator, just access the menu present in the latest version of Skype for Desktop.
