Sony fixes bug on PS4; prevent it from happening to you

With bug, Sony console crashes and in some cases users were forced to do factory reset. Find out how to prevent this from happening to you.

A Sony announced the correction of a bugs that was crashing consoles PS4. The error happened when certain messages or strange characters were sent to users. When opening the message, the console of Sony was crashing, and in some cases users were required to do a hardware factory reset to get the console to work again.

In a message on Twitter replying to a comment pointing out the bug, an official support account of PlayStation reported: “We fixed the issue before anyone was affected”.

With messages, crash loop it was so bad that some users claimed they had to reset their consoles. However, the Sony is not the only company that has had to struggle with a bug like this. Recently, at the beginning of the year, the Apple was forced to correct the iOS after a bug surfaced crashing several messaging and email apps.

How to restrict messages on your PS4 to friends only:

There are two ways you can configure your PS4 to receive messages only from trusted people:

A) Through a browser, you can visit this site, enter your PS4 account credentials, choose the option “Personal Information | Messages” and select the edition, located next to the Messages menu. From here, you can choose anyone, just friends or no one, from whom you want to receive messages. until the Sony fix this bug, it is preferable to choose one of the last two options.

B) Directly on the PlayStation 4 console, you can access Settings -> Account Management -> Privacy Settings option. Choose “Personal Information | Messages” and select Messages. From here you can choose anyone, just friends or no one. Again, until the Sony fix this bug, you must choose one of the last two options.
