Spotify also tests TikTok-style videos

One of the most used features on social networks today is the “vertical” type of video, in which it is displayed in a way that fills the entire screen, from top to bottom. some of them like Social media coordinator, YouTube e Snapchat already present videos in the style of TikTok, and by the way, now we will also see the vertical video in Spotify.

The discovery was made through the application TestFlight, for iOS, which allows users to test applications and/or features in applications that have not yet been live in their definitive versions. In this case, the option is called “Discover” (“Discover“, in free translation) and will be in the bottom bar of Spotify, among the options Home e Search — on PC, it would be the toolbar on the left side, and following the logic, it would be the second option presented.
When accessing Discover, you are taken to a kind of “feed“, where clips of some songs will be displayed and by dragging up or down, you can see other suggestions of clips. Also, if you like what was shown, you can leave your like, as well as you can click on the option with three dots to check more information about that song and video clip.

In 2019 Spotify launched the Canvas, a feature that allows artists to upload snippets of their videos to accompany their music when users access it, and by the looks of it Discover will override this feature — it will likely be replaced over time. Although some users say that the presentation of clips while browsing during the songs, in the app, can be a big distraction, the responsible team says that, in fact, many other users like the feature and even help them to favorite a track or even even share it.

According to the tests performed, apparently the clips displayed in Discover are the same as those seen in Canvas, which can be a hand in the wheel, if the Canvas video clips are in high quality and complete. There was not much information from Spotify about the new feature, only that it will be included not only for iOS, but also for Android.
