The highly anticipated open-world space RPG from Bethesda, Starfield, is becoming an ever closer reality for video game fans. On Sunday (11), the game, which Todd Howard claims is the company's most ambitious project to date, was revealed in a video with more than 40 minutes of detailed information on gameplay, graphics and more.
Throughout the video, we were treated to a visual spectacle of epic proportions, something that, if delivered by the developers, would truly be worthy of the “new generation”. To the relief of fans, the release date remains unchanged, so Starfield will be released on September 6th for Xbox Series S | X and computers, and is available at no additional cost on Game Pass!
Showmetech extracted the most interesting information from the video and we bring it first hand to you now!
Starfield is of the Nasapunk genre

Fans of the punk genre know that it usually manifests itself in several segments, each with its own rules and specific information. Perhaps the most popular of all is the Cyberpunk, which even has a game with the same name developed by CD Project Red.
To Starfield, Bethesda decided to create a new style within that genre to build their world, which they called Nasapunk. But what does it mean? Well, it's a mix of futuristic technology, but without being overly creative about how this technology will evolve in the coming years. It's an imaginative depiction of what our future could be like, but still capable of allowing us to find familiar elements in objects.
Thus, while exploring all regions of the game universe, players can expect ships and other devices with a futuristic look, but within reasonable limits. They are plausible objects that we can imagine and even believe could exist in the real world.
a living universe

One of Todd Howard's great promises that impresses and also raises doubts is related to the true size of the universe of Starfield. The developer promised about a thousand worlds that can be visited by space adventurers on their journey, but did not detail whether they will all be created manually by the team or generated by algorithms.
Fortunately, what was shown during today's broadcast impressed by the sheer amount of detail presented: during space travel, players will not only be able to visit planets, but also their moons. There is, therefore, much to be explored in this universe of the game.
The idea of Bethesda, above all, is to make this universe seem really alive, composed of small independent stories that, somehow, interconnect. For example, on one of the planets shown during the broadcast, called Akila, it is possible to see that it was conceived based on a space wild west scenario.
However, not all planets will have the same amount of detail and information, as many will not be inhabited by civilizations, being just places full of alien flora and fauna to be explored by players. Even if they are procedurally generated, new content will be added as each person explores the universe, which will guarantee a different experience for each player.
So while the story missions may be similar, experienced in the same way by all fans of Starfield, each person's journey through the galaxy can be different.
Make your dream base and ship

Your journey across the galaxy can be quite challenging, especially with so many dangers lurking in this universe. However, when visiting any planet, it will be possible to build a base on it and customize it to your liking, opening up a range of possibilities, such as assigning people to work there or selecting places to extract resources.
Fortunately, this is just the beginning. In addition to customizing the base as you like, you can also apply that same customization to the ship, which will accompany you on long journeys through the stars. The complexity of the customization options seems to be wide, allowing you to build them according to your desire – and the presentation made it clear that even the strangest wishes can be fulfilled.
Therefore, our space travel will not always be safe. While there is an option to travel between two points at the click of a button, it will also be possible to pilot the ships to their destination. Regardless of the form of exploration chosen, players must be prepared to face dangerous aerial battles.
A Bethesda also made it clear that there will be different approaches to these battles. Astronauts will be able to have greater control over their own ships, giving up certain resources – such as ship speed – in exchange for others, such as greater shield time or firepower. However, if you don't like this strategy, it will also be possible to invade enemy vehicles and surrender their crew.
It's about who you are

In open world games that allow extensive customization of appearance and other details of the character, it is common that, in the end, everyone is essentially the same, just with different faces, but with the same story. However, the developer's logic is different in Starfield, as the emphasis is not on appearance, but on who you are as a character, giving players the freedom to customize their story in meaningful ways.
Background, for example, will provide a little context to define who you are in the universe of Starfield, and you'll have even more freedom to choose three additional traits, making your journey even more unique. These traits will have the typical advantages and disadvantages, offering something beneficial to the player in exchange for some detriment.
An example of these traits is “Hero Worshiped”, featured during the broadcast, which, when selected, causes the main character to become a huge star in the galaxy and a fan to randomly appear to chat non-stop. On the one hand, this can lead the fan to join the space crew and even gift the player with interesting items.
In case the player doesn't want to spend a lot of time creating his own protagonist or simply wants to enjoy the complex gameplay of Starfield as soon as possible there will be an option to choose from 40 different character models, which will give you a solid base to start your journey.
Evolve while playing

Starfield will have different skills that can be acquired throughout the game, either by completing challenges spread across the galaxy or by making certain decisions that grant access to them. Like character skills, skills can also be improved as you play. For example, the more you pick locks, the better your character's skill in that area.
This is similar to what already happens in Skyrim, but in the new space RPG from Bethesda, these mechanics seem to be more refined and dynamic, showing all the company's learning over the years in the game development market.
In total, the main skills of the character will be divided into five different categories: Physical, Social, Combat, Science and Technology. While no specific details have been provided on how each works, they are expected to have a significant impact on how each player approaches the game's various situations.
You don't have to travel alone.
Becoming the most powerful creature in the entire galaxy can be an interesting task, but it can become even more fun in the company of friends. While no details have yet been released on co-op elements in Starfield, the game will have a wide variety of secondary characters that will be able to accompany you on your adventure single player.
Each member of your crew will have unique skills that will be of great help for the proper functioning of the ship or even for the bases built on dry land. After all, even the most powerful lone wolf needs an extra hand to manage his life, don't you agree?
Many of the NPCs available throughout the game's history will be able to accompany the main character on adventures, either to carry out missions or face dangerous enemies. One outstanding example so far is the charismatic robot called Vasco, whose design was inspired by NASA creations.
In addition, among a wide variety of people who can join your crew, it is even possible to fall in love with someone and develop a romance, as the game will feature a relationship system.
Combat has undergone transformations
Oldest fans of Bethesda know that combat in their games is often one of the least interesting aspects. In Skyrim, the feeling of freedom and exploration of the map was more captivating and fun than sword fighting or using spells against enemies. Even in Fallout, things were a little slower in that regard.
However, from what was shown in the Starfield trailers, it seems that the Bethesda made major overhauls to combat. Just by the trailers, it is already possible to feel how they are more fun and dynamic. As with all Space RPGs, there will be a wide variety of items available to the player, as well as customization options so that each piece of equipment can be made to your liking.
Even for Star Wars fans who want to create a Mandalorian in the Star Wars game universe, Bethesda, it will be possible to do so, since jetpacks will be available for use during map exploration or even in battles!
Starfield custom products
In addition to the long-awaited release of Starfield, fans also have another big news to celebrate! Along with the game, custom controllers and headsets will be released, perfect for immersing yourself in the immersive space experience.
Custom controls will feature a unique design inspired by the Starfield universe, with details and themed elements that will transport players directly into the game's galaxy. With them in hand, every move and action will be even more immersive, offering a tangible connection to the game world.
In addition, custom headsets will provide a high-quality sound experience and total immersion. With crisp, immersive audio, every sound in the Starfield universe will come to life, transporting players into a unique and exciting soundscape.
Is it Bethesda's definitive game?
Starfield is scheduled to be released on September 6th and will be available for PCs and Apple's new generation lineup of consoles. Microsoft, Xbox Series S | X.
As one of the most anticipated titles of the year, it promises to provide incredible immersion and adventure in its vast world. However, will it become the definitive game of Bethesda? Let us know your opinion in the comments!
