UltraRope, or superrope, was created for super buildings to have super elevators reaching new heights.

When we think of the tallest buildings in the world, few people remember the fundamental parts, which are elevators. It happens that the buildings are getting taller and the elevators need to keep up with this movement. The problem is that there is a limit.

The higher the elevator goes, the longer the ropes that support it. Some heights are so great that you need to add more strings to support the weight of the strings themselves. Factors that made the system unfeasible for great heights due to increased weight.

Until recently, lifts to heights above 500 meters were not possible. After nine years of rigorous testing, the company Kone is finally bringing to market a superstring called Ultra Rope. This new product weighs just 15% as much as its predecessors and has twice the lifespan. With this new rope it will be possible to take elevators up to 1 kilometer high.

A Ultra Rope has already been selected to be used in the elevators of the The Kingdom Tower (The King's Tower), in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled to open in 2020. In this case, the equipment will climb 660 meters from the almost 10 that the building will have and will be a double elevator, with two cabins, one over the other, moving at up to XNUMX meters per second, that is, on the descent it is practically a free fall without acceleration.
