New York taxi drivers create app to compete with Uber

Everywhere the Uber started its operations, there were conflicts and controversies with taxi drivers. In New York, one of the largest cities in the world, was no different; Uber's cars even surpassed the number of taxis in the city.

In an attempt to fight the app, industry veterans taxis are launching the your own app. Baptized Arro, it works much like the main competitor, but doesn't charge the $2 fee for Uber-T services.

In addition, the new app's taxis will allow users to avoid the fare increase at peak times in Manhattan, which sometimes doubles or triples the value of the ride on Uber. The company itself explained the reasons for this rise.

According to the founders of Arro, their system may be more interesting because it is directly integrated into the taxi payment terminal, instead of working through the driver's smartphone. In practice, both apps offer the same facility when it comes to paying: once the credit card is added, the charge is made from it.

7 thousand taxis will be part of the fleet of cars of the Arro, while Uber already has more than 20 vehicles on the streets of New York. For now, the novelty will only work in NY, but there are already some plans to expand to other US cities.
