O Prime Video released, on Thursday morning (8), the trailer for the series The Peripheral, starring Chloë Grace Moretz and which arrives in the service catalog of Amazon on the 21st of October. Created by Scott Smith, the series is based on the novel bestseller by William Gibson. In Brazil, science fiction drama production won the title of Peripherals.
Despite only having its official trailer released now, The Peripheral was already negotiated internally with the Amazon since early 2018. In April 2019, executive producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the same creators of Westworld, finally signed with giant Amazon Studios. And, after four years, we can say hello to the production that promises to be one of the biggest news of 2022.

The plot is centered on Flynne (Moretz) and Burton (Jack Reynor), two brothers who live in a reality where jobs that are not related to the drug business are rare. Flynne is smart, ambitious, but also doomed. She has no future, until the future comes calling for her.
The drama also features Gary Carr (The Deuce), Eli Goree (One Night in Miami), Louis Herthum (Westworld), JJ Feild (TURN: Washington's Spies), T'Nia Miller (The Haunting of Bly Manor) , Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders), Alexandra Billings (The Conners), Adelind Horan (The Deuce), Alex Hernandez (UnReal), Katie Leung (Chimerica), Julian Moore-Cook (Peaky Blinders), Melinda Page Hamilton (Messiah), Chris Coy (The Deuce) and Austin Rising (Alt).
Traveling back in time in The Peripheral
The trailer introduces us to Flynne as a practical woman who works in manual services and lives a quiet life in the suburbs of her city. One day, she tries on a new VR helmet that she thinks will take her into an interactive game world. However, she discovers that the VR set actually transports her 70 years into the future. The series will switch between the two periods in time as Flynne becomes embroiled in a science fiction murder mystery in the future.
In the trailer released by Prime Video, we get glimpses of the future that Flynne will have to learn to deal with. We can see giant statues towering over London, faceless assassins waiting to stalk their prey, and incredible technology like blast guns and invisible cars. While the future has better tools than the past, it also feels like the city is falling apart, with empty buildings and dark alleys spreading across London like the plague.

The Peripheral is produced by Amazon Studios e Warner Bros Television, in association with the Kilter Movies. The series will feature new episodes every Friday until December 9, when the last episode will be available.
