The Sandman: Netflix releases 2 extra episodes of surprise

The comic book series Neil Gaiman has been gaining more and more space both for lovers of the first media and for those who watched the series that recently premiered on Netflix. we are talking about Sandman (T, 2022), which had 10 episodes in the first season and now received two more extra stories in a single episode, check it out!

1st season, 11th episode

This extra episode — or 11th episode, in the sequel — took everyone by surprise and brings viewers two different stories. Its title is "Dream of a thousand cats / Calliope“. One of them is animated and has the participation of several known voice actors, in its original version, including the actor James MacAvoy, also seen in titles such as Fragmentado (2016) and It - Chapter Two (2019)

Both stories were based on spin-offs the comics, that is, stories independent of the comics. In "Calliope” we see a story about a muse who is in captivity trying to escape the villains who imprisoned her, while “A Dream of a Thousand Cats” is set in the realm that cats visit when they go to sleep at night.

Two different stories and two beings that cross Morpheus' path: a Siamese cat who dreams of a new world and a writer looking for inspiration.

What is The Sandman?

If you got here by chance and don't know the work, don't worry! A lot of people don't really know the comics that the series originated from. Written by Neil Gaiman, Sandman has as its protagonist Morpheus, the god of Dreams, better known as the “Perpetual of Dreams“. In the very first episode he tries to recover a nightmare that escaped from the dream world, but his mission was interrupted and from there the whole story unfolds. Want to know more?
