The White Lotus: What will be the next destination in season 4? See theories

A week ago orphans of The White Lotus, after the end of the third season, the question that won't go away is already spreading among fans: where will be the next paradisiacal destination that the story of the fourth season will be set in? 

On the one hand, the creator of the series, Mike White, pointed out that there is the possibility of exploring all seven continents. In return, the executive of HBO, Frances Bears, gave some clues that possibly the new arc would take place somewhere in Europe. Also taking into account the information that White not so keen on places with low temperatures, we made some bets based on theories and clues left by the production. 

Greece

Following the European clues, one of the most bet places for where the fourth season of White Lotus will be is Greece. Amidst mythology and paradisiacal landscapes, this would be the perfect stage for new dramas and intrigues. Located on a peninsula with private beaches and close to the Acropolis, Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens is a strong candidate to accommodate new guests. 

Mallorca (Island in Spain)

As the search for the new location of White Lotus continues, the sunny Spanish island of Maiorca, a jewel of the Mediterrâneo, emerges as a strong candidate. Combining the sophistication of luxury with a hint of the vibrant nightlife already seen in Thailand, the largest of the Balearic Islands could be the ideal setting for the upcoming dramas and misadventures of the series. One of the great attractions of Mallorca is the Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, described as a “vast private playground.” With lush Mediterranean landscapes that invite hiking, biking, and boating, the resort offers the idyllic setting that’s characteristic of The White Lotus. In fact, a move to Spain would represent the first time the series would be set in a Spanish-speaking country, opening up rich new cultural possibilities for future characters.

French Riviera

Synonymous with high society, with its famous hotels, stunning beaches and a universe full of extravagance, the south of France could be the perfect setting for the upcoming dramas and twists and turns of The White Lotus.

To contribute to the theory, the region has the Four Seasons, Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat. For over a century hosting the world's elite, this sanctuary boasts panoramic views from Nice to Monaco and lush gardens that can provide the secluded and luxurious atmosphere that the series demands and makes a point of exploring in all its seasons. In addition, its strategic location in the heart of the French Riviera would allow the characters to venture beyond the hotel walls.

Turkey

Here the theory is that Istanbul, the Turkey, is a strong candidate for where the fourth season of White Lotus will be. The presence of Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus, located on the shores of the Bosphorus Strait, meets all the requirements and standards of luxurious locations in the series. In addition, the characters could develop their arcs with the landscape as a backdrop. Basilica of Saint Sophia and Blue Mosque, places that offer Muslim cultural traditions and practices – which opens the door to similar stories that occurred in the third season, set in Thailand. 

Japan

It is very likely that the next season will be filmed in Europe. But if they change their minds, one of the biggest settings would be Japan. The executive producer of The White Lotus, David Bernard, has already mentioned in interviews his interest in the country. To contribute to the theory, Four Seasons has hotels in Tokyo, Kyoto e Osaka. 

Choosing Japan would represent a major break with the coastal settings of previous seasons. In this case, the location would allow the characters to immerse themselves in the sophistication of Japanese cuisine, vibrant metropolises and ancient traditions. It would be a perfect example of the contrast between luxury tourism and human philosophy, if Japan were the new location for The White Lotus.

France (Alps)

even though Bernard having mentioned that Mike White, the creator of the series, is not very fond of cold climates, this personal preference may be outweighed by the great narrative potential that a ski resort in the French Alps could offer for the new season.

O Four Seasons Hotel Megeve, a potential rental hotel, offers direct access to the ski slopes, combining the renowned luxury of the chain with the adrenaline of winter sports. The availability of private chalets, a sophisticated spa and the scenic beauty of the region in both seasons of the year expand the narrative possibilities and offer a variety of settings that contribute to the dramatic touch. 

Morocco

If the production of The White Lotus remains firm in its purpose of exploring demographic diversity, the production may set its next season in Morocco, in the north of Africa. With strong cultural ties to the Middle East but firmly part of the African continent, the country has long attracted tourists with its historical treasures, such as the Bahia Palace and its gardens, and the labyrinthine Arab markets, the “souks”, in addition to its rich history as an important global center.

Although the paradisiacal islands Maldives, French Polynesia e Seychelles are also popular destinations for the fourth season of White Lotus, given the number of five-star resorts, Morocco's cultural and historical uniqueness could offer a richer and more original narrative variety for the new characters.

Brazil

And why not the person himself? Brazil? If Mike White wants warm temperatures and geographic diversity, there is no better place than Rio de Janeiro. Guests coming from other countries could be faced with a huge culture shock, where their prejudices would be confronted amidst the celebratory atmosphere that the Carnival Brazilian can provide, for example. In terms of luxury, the Copacabana Palace It has a profile that is compatible with other hotels and can accommodate the upcoming dramas with excellence. 

And the quest for the new location of White Lotus continues! The good news is that production on the fourth season is set to begin in 2026, so fans won't have to wait as long to find out what the next paradisiacal landscape will be that will serve as the backdrop for new dramas.
