Tutorial: Updating Galaxy S5 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat

This tutorial was designed for users who would like to update their smartphone Galaxy S5 da Samsung for version 4.4.2 (Kitkat) of the system Android.

In addition to improving compatibility with operators available in Brazil, your phone will work better and faster. This update also brings new features and fixes bugs from older versions.

Until the newest version arrives – the Android Lollipop 5.0 – this is the most current available for the Galaxy S5 Brazilian, dated November 2014. To proceed with the update, follow the steps below:

Important:

• This tutorial should only be applied to the model Galaxy S5 (SM-G900M). Use in any other version may damage the device.

• However, it is very unlikely that the device will be damaged if you follow all the instructions mentioned in this tutorial.

Installation Tutorial:

To get started, download this > archive < zip and unzip it to a folder on your computer.

Now let's clean your phone (note, a backup is recommended as all data on the phone will be erased).

• Install the file named: SamsungUSBDriverV1.5.40.0.exe
• Connect your phone with the cable USB and wait to recognize
• turn off your Galaxy S5 and then turn on by pressing a with the following sequence
• Volume up button + Home button + Power button
• Choose the option “wipe data / factory reset"
• Repeat the process with the option “wipe cache partition".
• Now click on “Reboot system now"

After the first cleaning, now let's install the ROM on your device.

• Turn off the device, and place it in the Download mode
• Turn on the device by holding the buttons volume down + Home + Power
• press the button volume up to enter the Download mode
• Connect the device to the PC
• Open Odin3 software as administrator, then select the files you downloaded exactly as in the picture below:

• Please click START and wait for the whole process to finish.

The program will signal when the process is over and you can unplug the cable from your PC. Ready!
