Windows usually runs tasks in the background, and in Windows 10 this would be no different. The problem is that some tasks, updates most of the time, consume computer data even when it is not in heavy use.
For those who use laptops e tablets with mobile internet, this is a major problem, as the franchise can go up in the air in a matter of hours, rather than an entire month.
Fortunately, for anyone who wants to be in control of when and how system updates happen, Windows 10 offers a feature that lets you determine how much data your system uses.
"If you have a limited data plan and want more control over your data usage, make this connection a bounded network. Some applications may work differently to reduce data usage when connected to this network", explains the Microsoft.
The solution to this problem is quite simple, so let's get to the point: how to save data in windows 10.
If you already use the Anniversary Update, follow these steps:
- Connect to a network;
- Open the network menu on the taskbar;
- Click “Properties” on the network name;
- Enable the 'Set as metered connection' feature.
If your PC still doesn't have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update installed, click Settings in the Start Menu
- Select “Network and Internet”;
- Click on "Wi-Fi";
- Click on “Advanced Options”;
- Enable the 'Set as metered connection' feature.
This is a simple thing to do, but it can save tons of data and avoid undesirable unforeseen events, such as the end of the data allowance before the end of the month.
