There are times when our email inbox becomes a mess, right? When we receive a lot of unnecessary emails, do a cleaning with the unroll.me can solve it, but when all the messages are important, the ideal is to organize the inbox, and not always the automatic organization of the gmail is enough, hence the need for filters.
With filters it is possible to separate new messages from one or more contacts by folders, even grouping the oldest messages. It is also possible to archive messages, or delete them immediately if you cannot get rid of them with unroll.me or unsubscribing from the list.
you can create filters by going to the settings of the Gmail, but I'll teach you how to do it in a simpler and more practical way, shall we?
1. Open the email you want to filter, click on “More”, in the options above the email, and select “Filter messages like this”.
2. Now it's time to choose the filter parameters. It will automatically filter all emails from the chosen sender.
Configure as you wish, such as filtering only messages that contain attachments, or a certain word, etc.
3. Click on “Create filter with this search »“, now it's time to choose what to do with the filtered messages.
4. This is where you can direct a message to a specific folder (label), star, as read, delete, or forward. Just select the option you want. If you want to put all messages from a sender in a label, just select “Apply Label” and click on “New Label…” if it doesn't already exist.
5. If you want to filter old messages from the same sender, if any, check the box “Also apply the filter to XX matching conversations” and click on “Create filter”.
That's it, your filter is created, now that you've learned how to do it, have fun with the possibilities.
