Twitter opens vacancies in Community Notes for Brazilians

Social network's fact-checking service, Community Notes set to expand to more countries worldwide

Now, the Community Notes finally speak portuguese! called from Community Notes, the fact-checking feature of the Twitter announced last Thursday night (2), the opening of vacancies for employees in Brazil. With the aim of empowering people on the internet to add context to potentially misleading tweets, the program looks at the possibility of creating a better informed world.

In general, the idea of ​​​​the social network is to expand the service to other different places around the world. As informed by the company of the blue bird, Japan and some Spanish-speaking countries should be the next ones to receive the fact-checking resources in a community way. Still according to the social network, vacancies will be opened gradually so that they can monitor the quality of the experience.

What is Twitter Community Notes?

Initially titled birdwatch, the fact-checking feature of the Twitter was created in 2021. Still at the end of last year, the service underwent a reformulation and began to require employees to carry out a series of evaluations in order to be able to be able to publish notes on top of others tweets.

The main idea is that whoever is confirmed as a contributor to the Community Notes can leave a note regarding any tweet published. Thus, if a sufficient number of other collaborators, with different points of view on the subject matter, approve and classify the note as useful, it will be displayed to all users of the social network.

At first, the feature was only available for the United States region. However, the goal of the social network is to expand to as many places in the world as possible. After arriving in Brazil, Notas da Comunidade should be introduced in Japan and in some Spanish-speaking countries soon. It is worth mentioning that, in early 2023, the company had already opened vacancies for the collaboration of people from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

How to sign up to join Community Notes

Absolutely anyone who has an account on the social network whose specifications meet the eligibility criteria judged by the company can participate in Community Notes. Just access the link, follow the recommendations and fill in the requested information to start the application process to act as a contributor.

Among the necessary requirements to be able to register and participate in the resource are: not having violated any rules of the Twitter since January 1, 2023, have been on the social network for at least six months, have a verified phone number, a trusted mobile carrier, and not be associated with any other Community Notes accounts.

The company reinforces that everyone who decides to participate in the service starts only by evaluating grades. As time passes, they may gain the ability to write them down as well. It is important to know that grades are not chosen by majority rule. O Community Notes it only identifies those that are useful to and by people with different points of view. In short, it is not the social network that will define what will appear or not. This role is unique, and exclusively, to the people themselves.

The rules for Community Notes

O Twitter reinforces the fact that the Community Notes does not represent the views of the company and that posted notes may not be modified or edited by its staff. It also makes it clear that a tweet with a Community Note will not be tagged, removed or even resolved, unless it violates any rule of the privacy policy or the established terms of use. If any rule is not complied with, the user may be removed from access to the fact-checking service.

Finally, anyone can report notes that they believe do not comply with the posted rules. Just open the note, select the menu identified by the three dots and report or use the Following form. Additionally, if any network user disagrees that a Community Note provides important context about your tweetcan request additional analysis.
