Uber introduces Uber Lite, Uber Cash and new version of Uber Pool

After four years in Brazil, the Uber, the company that owns the travel app most used in the world, announced new solutions and technologies which should further increase accessibility to the platform. Among the main novelties are: the application About Lite and the digital wallet Uber Cash.

Uber Lite is designed for low-performance smartphones

In the world of applications, it is not that difficult to find two different versions for the same type of service. In this case, we are talking about those apps that, because they are lighter and simpler versions to run on any device, they are called Small.

That said, the Uber presented the About Lite, an application aimed at smartphones that suffer when running the “full” version of the platform. According to the company, it was necessary to completely reinvent the user experience, as the new solution targets cell phones with small screen or who have insufficient storage space.

“In Brazil, where the platform's growth is more pronounced in the metropolitan regions of capitals, Uber Lite will bring even more possibilities for people to move around. In most cases, it is possible to call a car with just 4 rings”, Said Manik Gupta, Vice President of Products at Uber.

According to Uber, the lighter application should run more efficiently on 90% of cell phones from Brazil. Furthermore, it was also said that the About Lite occupy only 5 MB of storage space and optimizes the use of mobile data.

Uber Cash simulates the experience of using a credit card

It is nothing new that the application Uber accepts several different payment methods. And, apparently, the company behind the app decided to enlarge even more possibilities with the launch of Uber Cash.

functioning as a digital wallet, the new solution brought by the travel platform brings together different types of prepaid credits in one place. In other words, it is now possible to add credits within the apps of Uber through prepaid cards that are found in more than 285.000 physical stores of Brazil.

“We want everyone in Brazil to have access to Uber. For this, it is necessary to accept more and more forms of payment, but we want the experience to be even easier than it is today”, Explain Rob Daniel, director of financial products.

According to a Daniel, it is also possible to buy credits within the application itself, just be equipped with a credit card ou debit. In this specific case, the user has up to 5% off.

“You can add money to Uber Cash in advance, planning your spending while having the same card payment experience”, adds the executive.

New version of Uber Pool will bring more efficient routes

O Uber pool, which aims to transport more people in fewer cars, also got a new version. Now, in addition to offering discounts up to 30% for the modality Uber-X, the app's shared trip also suggests more efficient routes for the driver and even for the passengers.

“We completely rebuilt this service, creating a new system that asks users to walk a few blocks to find their driver partner and other users, making travel faster, more accessible and more predictable”, Said Ethan Stock, director of shared products.

Second Stock, these changes were made because users, despite liking the accessibility of the Uber pool, found the service inconsistent.

New benefits for Uber drivers

Finally, the Uber also presented two novelties for the platform's drivers. The first one is a partnership with the gas station network Ipiranga, which now gives up to 5% off on fuel prices for the company's application partners.

“The partnership with Ipiranga is the first of its kind in the world and we believe that it will positively impact the earnings of partner drivers in Brazil”Says Federico Chester, director of business development at Uber in Latin America.

The second and final novelty for drivers is the partnership with fintech Zen Finance. From the month of October, the driver of the Uber may finance the installation of a natural gas kit without facing bureaucracy and with installments of up to R$100. According to the travel platform, these installments will be deducted from the weekly payment.

Availability

Now available in beta, the About Lite can only be downloaded to Android via Google Play Store. Meanwhile, the Uber Cash has a release scheduled for day first of October.

And finally, the Uber pool will initially be released in São Paulo from the October, with no specific date. Access to this category will be released in other cities shortly thereafter.
