Brooklyn 99 final season arrives on Netflix

The fans' wait is over, the eighth and final season of the crime comedy series, considered one of the best comedy series of recent years, arrives in the catalog of Netflix in that month. the last season of Brooklyn 99 debut on the day September 20. The series has captured the hearts of people of all ages and has gained thousands of fans all over the world over the past few years.

The series was acquired by the National Broadcasting Company, NBC, on November 14, 2019 and had its final season announced on the day February 11, 2021. After its cancellation with Fox in 2018, this was the third and final season on NBC. Despite being officially launched on the day August 12th, 2021 and have been completed on the day September 16th, 2021, the last season had not yet been released in the catalog of Netflix.

The final season of Brooklyn 99 is shorter than all other seasons previously released and has only 10 episodes, however these episodes promise to give the series a final direction and the outcome that these characters so much deserve.

The important historical context in the final season of Brooklyn 99

The eighth season will deal with serious themes, because due to the events of COVID-19 and protests of George floyd, the scripts had to be adapted to fit and respect the current scenario that involved our society.

In the first episodes of the series, the COVID-19 vaccines are mentioned, which at the time were still in development, and the characters, in the first episode, appear wearing masks, to, in addition to contextualizing the current moment in which the series takes place, also encourage the use of masks by fans as a way to fight the virus. In addition, the new season, during several episodes, has several references to the George Floyd protests and the abuses of the American police.

Brooklyn 99 final season plot

The series' final year begins with the police station's employees gradually returning to work after experiencing the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19; they bring several references to the vaccine, social distance and the use of mask contextualizing that moment they are living.

The tension between police and citizens grows in this new season, due to the several protests of George floyd. These events make Pink don't believe the system anymore and leave your career in the police, choosing to work on your own, becoming a private investigator. Holt struggles to manage her personal life and work in an attempt to save her marriage to Kevin. Hitchcock retires, but maintains his participation via FaceTime with your best friend, Scully. Meanwhile, our protagonists, Jake e Amy, try to reconcile their personal life in their first year as parents while solving the various problems and cases that arrive at the police station.
