It has been three years since the Google updated one of their most popular products, the chromecast. But, with the company's new event approaching – which will take place on October 09th – a new Chromecast (third generation) seems to have leaked before the date.
New Chromecast (third generation)
A forum user Reddit posted this weekend an image of what would be the third generation of chromecast, which he bought from a local store in Best Buy in the United States, which appears to have gone on sale ahead of schedule. While none of the internal specs have been released due to this leak, we can see how the Google changed the design of the beloved streaming dongle.

The published comparison image shows the new 3rd generation Chromecast alongside a 2nd generation model. The differences are clear: both share the same basic design, with a circular body that houses the components and an HDMI cable to connect to the TV. According to Redditor, this new hardware eliminates the old model's magnetic connector.
Other changes we can see here include replacing the glossy plastic design with a matte coating. It is also mentioned that the 3rd generation Chromecast it is a little thicker than the previous version. The Chromecast logo has also been replaced by the Google “G” logo. Also, this new version apparently continues with a microUSB port.

It's not entirely clear that this is the new Chromecast with updated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi that has already been seen on the internet, but it seems likely. O Redditor also mentions that the application Google Home requires an update to configure this new device, which helps confirm its legitimacy. Furthermore, he notes that the Best Buy had the SKU for this item as of October 9th, so it is likely to go on sale the same day as the launch event for the item. Google in New York.
