We were surprised last Tuesday (1) by the Google. The company decided to renew its brand in a more risky way since its foundation in 1998. The serif font gave way to rounded typography and the traditional “g” was replaced by “G” composed of the four original colors of the Google: blue, red, yellow, green.

The change could have been more radical, as the staff of The Next Web noticed. At the google design website We can see some of the other projects that the company had up its sleeve, in addition to knowing more about the creation process.

The image above shows some alternatives very bold, like the logo based almost entirely on circles. The brand could be much more colorful and the "G" tiny maybe kept.

“We started by distilling the essence of our brand down to its core – the four colors on a white background – and then building it up again. […] With the editing room filled with hundreds of hours of work, we chose some directions that excited us.”, reveals the Google post.
