Those who are older on the internet (not so much) must remember the Orkut Gold. In 2010, a computer engineering student at PUC-RS, Pedro Vanzella, made a joke that took on epic proportions in Brazil. The so-called “Orkut Ouro” promised a series of perks for users of the extinct social network, such as seeing all the photos of any user and even Google Maps with GPS in real time.
Jokes aside, restrictions on social networks are always a thorn in the lives of the most curious. Facebook, in particular, makes it very difficult to access content that is no longer circulating in the feed. However, the social network has a powerful tool, which if used well, can bring incredible results: the search bar!
With it you can check all the photos liked by a specific friend, or which friends of yours enjoy showmetech, or even restaurants in your city that your friends have visited and recommended! Amazing, isn't it? All of this can be accessed by Graph Search, a tool that is still in BETA phase, but can be activated.
The first step is to leave your Facebook in English. For the time being the search bar features are not available in our language, however, there is no reason to worry if you are not fluent in English, layout of the site will remain identical. To change go to “Settings”, click on “Language” and then on “Edit” and select the language “English (U.S.)” and click save changes.
Once that's done, you've unlocked the full power of the search for the world's largest social network. With some combinations you will be able to do deep research. Let's take the actor here as an example Terry Crews, better known as "Chris's Dad". Just type the following sentence in the search box: “Photos liked by Terry Crews” and hit enter.
You will instantly have access to all the photos liked by the actor. To see the complete list, just click on “See more”… To search for one of your friends, just write (or copy) the sentence: “Photos liked by” and complete with someone's name. You can also try to see the restaurants recommended by your friends, with the following sentence: “Restaurants in Fortaleza liked by my friends“, where Fortaleza can be exchanged for any city and my friends, for a specific friend.
To find out which of your friends have already liked SMT, for example, type: “Friends who like showmetech” or any other page. The possibilities are endless.
