Red, White and Blue Blood arrives in August on Prime Video

Red, White and Blue Blood (Red, White & Royal Blue, 2023) already has a date to debut on the platform Prime Video: August 11th. The film, based on the homonymous book, tells the romance between Alex (Taylor Zakhar Perez), son of the President of the United States, and Henry (Nicholas Galitzine), member of the British royal family. The story in Red, White and Blue Blood

Imagine a parallel reality in which the son of the President of the United States, Ellen Claremont (Uma Thurman) and a son of the UK royal family — a prince, to be precise — decide to have a love affair. Well, that's the story that takes place in Red, White and Blue Blood, film based on the 2019 book by Casey McQuinston, winner of Vogue's book of the year category and making the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists.

After meeting professionally, a disastrous moment happens. That's enough for tabloid covers and sensationalized headlines about the case to create a problem in US-UK relations. In the meantime, Alex e Henry they end up approaching little by little, in a friendship that gives way to a love typical of a romantic comedy.

Composing the plot of Red White & Royal Blue Together with the two, we also see President Claremont dealing with her son's more spontaneous attitudes, and the Zahra Bankston (Sarah Shahi), US chief of staff, who is monitoring Alex and Henry's actions. Incidentally, it is she herself who warns that she can do a Brexit and “rip off the head” of one of them, in case they make a mistake. For this pun with England's separation from European Union, we can already foresee, with their participation, that a lot of politics will be involved in the film's love game.

Main characters

Alex Claremont-Diaz he is the son of the president of the United States and a professional from a tabloid newspaper, which does more favorable coverage of the US government. The character is influenced to become a member of the country's diplomatic corps, due to the president's will. Claremont in seeing his son take a turn in politics. In addition to international work, he is recognized in the universe of the plot as one of the sexiest men in the world, appearing on the cover of the magazine People.

O Prince Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, on the other hand, has a more comfortable royal life: he is second in line to the throne, because his brother is older. He even majored in English Literature at Oxford University, which is the same area where his mother, the queen mary, obtained a doctoral degree. Your father, Arthur Fox, dies before the meeting with Alex takes place: the absence of his father provoked a sadness that he is still trying to overcome.

The president Ellen Claremont is the first woman to reach the highest public office in the United States. After serving the first term, Ellen seeks re-election, while encouraging Alex to follow in politics as well. His affection for his son is one of his main characteristics, dedicating himself to understanding his son's emotions.

More about literary work

Casey McQuiston (32), author of the book on which the new film is based, already has a growing career in the literary world. She describes herself as a writer who works in the middle of “fun, romantic escapist adventures and characters who know what to say”. In this sense, his work is not only focused on the theme LGBTQIAPN+, but also in showing how Alex and Henry try to understand each other.

In a review of the book — which sold 100 copies in 2019 alone — radio NPR describes the work as "a well-written love story and a celebration of identity“. It's as if each part were leading to a search for the valorization of the policy, being a means to give marginalized populations an incentive to participate in decisions about their daily lives. Aside from the less romantic side of the story, Alex and Henry's closeness reveals a surprising closeness.
