At the end of October, Whatsapp released a new update allowing you to delete sent messages, a feature expected by many of its users, such as we show around here. The possibility of being able to delete a sent message is quite interesting, especially in situations where a message is sent to a wrong number, the broker ends up changing the words without the user seeing it or even out of regret.
The message can only be deleted up to 5 minutes after being sent. After this period, it can no longer be deleted. However, one bugs of the app discovered this month allows the user to delete messages on Android up to one week! The process is simple and easy, but it is important to remember that because it is a bug it may be uncovered and fixed at one time or another.
In the meantime, it serves as a harmless way to ensure that some slightly older messages disappear.
How to do
The process is simple, but it has a few important steps:
- 1 – The first thing to do is locate the message you want to delete and memorize the day and date it was sent.
- 2 – Then put your smartphone in airplane mode to avoid wi-fi or 3g connections.
- 3 – Go to the settings and look for the “Applications” option.
- 4 – In this option, select Whatsapp from the list.
- 5 – Select “Force Stop”.
- 6 – Return to the settings menu and now look for the “Date and Time” option, select it.
- 7 – If your smartphone is configured to adjust the date and time automatically, select to disable this function. It then returns the day and time when the message was sent.
- 8 – Without reconnecting the connection yet, open Whatsapp. Search for the message and press until the option to delete appears. Select “Erase for all”.
- 9 – The message will be deleted. Now go back in the date and time settings and you can select to adjust automatically or manually set the right day and time. Take it out of airplane mode.
Considerations
It is important to remember that this method only deletes messages sent about one week. When you turn the smartphone time too much, Whatsapp does not open, requiring you to set the correct date.
Like the option to delete message in the new update, it will only work if both devices are updated.
