How to watch the Coachella 2022 festival on YouTube

This year is being marked by the return of several events that have ceased to occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Music festivals, largely postponed in the last two years, are also resuming their activities at full steam, as is the case with Coachella 2022 which will take place over the next two weekends, featuring several international artists — including two Brazilian artists. What is Coachella?

O Coachella (in its original name, “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival“, something like “Coachella Vale de Música e Festival de Artes”) is a music festival, like the Lollapalooza that we saw here in Brazil last month. It takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California (USA). The event offers different musical genres to those present such as rock, pop, hip-hop, indie and many others.

During the history of Coachella, many world-renowned artists have performed as Prince, Radiohead, Daft Punk, Rage Against the Machine and other big names. The singer Beyoncé marked the 2018 edition of the festival with an iconic performance — dubbed by fans as “Beychella” — that was documented in the feature film. HOMECOMING, available at Netflix. The artist performed on two days, one on each weekend of the event.

O YouTube would mark the 2020 edition of the festival with a documentary celebrating its 20 years, entitled “Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert“. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the edition was postponed shortly before its event, and was also postponed in 2021, being held only now in 2022.

Coachella 2022 Lineup

And of course we cannot fail to mention the artists who will perform at the Coachella 2022. Among the most varied artists are Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia, The Weeknd e Doja Cat. The Brazilian presence at the event is from Anitta, who will make presentations on the 15th and 22nd, as well as Pabllo Vittar, which will perform on April 16 and 23.

The Weeknd was added at the last minute to replace Kanye West, who ended up canceling his participation in the event. Among some rumors there is a disagreement between the singer and Billie Eilish, about an apology he asked her to make to his friend Travis Scott, otherwise he would not have presented himself: and behold, he kept his word. But the official note is that he would not have room in the schedule for being working on a new album.

Being a partner of the event for a decade, the YouTube will broadcast again everything that happens in the Coachella 2022. It is possible to check the festival from any device that plays the YouTube ou YouTube Music, such as smartphones, computers, tablets and smart TVs. In addition to the shows, it will still be possible to follow individual interviews with the artists, behind the scenes of the festival through youtube shorts (YouTube's “Tiktok” format) and even check out pre-shows — the latter available exclusively to service subscribers YouTube Premium.

In addition to the live broadcasts, it will also be possible to make purchases through YouTube Shopping of products that are sold only during the Coachella 2022. Another interesting feature will be to interact with other viewers in real-time chat. This year, YouTube will also have an unprecedented number of 7 advertisers who will sponsor the broadcasts of the event.

April 15th to 17th on YouTube

The transmission of the first weekend will start at 20:00 hours on the 15th, Friday, led by the presenters veronica de la cruz, Therapy Gecko, quelin blackwell e Joe Kay. Viewers will be able to choose between three feeds different events, including simultaneous shows and interviews with the artists who arrive at the venue. April 22th to 24th on YouTube

Next weekend YouTube will broadcast the Coachella Curated, a selection of featured shows for spectators. The presentation will be by veronica de la cruz e Joe Kay.
