New model of Zenbook 14 uses NanoEdge technology to deliver a notebook with “infinite screen”

This Tuesday (14) the ASUS officially revealed the launch in Brazil of its new line of premium notebooks: the Zenbook 14 UX 434, the successor to UX433, launched by the company last year.

The new model features some interesting changes that help make this notebook a unique product and a perfect machine for those looking for something that can increase productivity in this period when many people are forced to work from home.

Zenbook 14: Design changes

The first change of this new model of the Zen Book 14 is already apparent as soon as we see the size of this device, which according to the ASUS is world's smallest 14" laptop. This is possible thanks to the use of the screen NanoEdge, with ultra-thin edges of just 2,9 mm thick, which means that 92% of the entire space on the front of the device is taken up by the screen.

This allows the computer to be just over 30 cm wide, about 17 mm thick and a total weight of 1,26 kg, making the new model of the Zen Book 14 an ultra-thin and ultra-light notebook, ideal for those who need to carry the device throughout the day to different places.

Another interesting design change was the introduction of a new type of hinge on the lid, which raises the notebook slightly whenever it is opened. This small elevation not only makes the keyboard more ergonomic, but also increases the space for air circulation, thus making the entire ventilation system more efficient.

And not just this elevation that makes the keyboard of the Zen Book 14 more comfortable, as the large-key design also helps users who tend to type a lot throughout the day to make fewer mistakes caused by hitting the wrong key. And, as it is also backlit, it can be used without problems even in dark environments.

Another change to the keyboard is the option to lock the “Fn”. With this, it is possible to transform all the “F” menu keys (F1, F2, etc.) hotkey while holding “Fn” with another finger.

Zenbook 14: hardware changes

In addition to allowing the device to be the smallest 14” notebook on the market, the NanoEdge allows this reduction in the size of the device to be made without any loss of quality, offering a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) with a 178º viewing angle, which allows the projected images to be seen from different angles without any loss of vision. quality. And with the use of technologies ASUS Splendid e ASUS Tru2Life, the images displayed by the screen are of a quality that is not common in such compact notebooks.

O Zen Book 14 still has a processor Intel i7 10th generation clocked at 1,8 GHz, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage, which guarantees that all the basic programs used in everyday life will be processed quickly and without lags, and guaranteeing a performance above even in the use of programs that require a more specialized machine, such as video editing.

This notebook also has a new ventilation system, which uses fans with thinner blades and more than the version released last year, ensuring 15% better heat dissipation and even quieter operation.

The device also has speakers produced in partnership with Harman-Kardonn, ensuring greater sound fidelity, has all the main inputs used by users (including a microSD card reader) and support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, allowing internet connections with greater stability and greater speed in transferring files via Bluetooth.

The device also has an infrared camera with support for Windows Hello, which allows you to unlock Windows 10 with just your face even in low-light environments. All this is powered by a 50 Wh battery, which keeps the device running for up to 13 hours uninterrupted on just one charge.

Zenbook 14: ScreenPad 2.0

ScreenPad 2.0 is the big technical differentiator of the Zenbook 14 (Image: ASUS)

But the great differential of this new model of the Zen Book 14 is Screenpad 2.0, the improved version of touchpad da ASUS. instead of a touchpad common, the ScreenPad it is a canvas that allows different creative uses, and the new version increases this versatility even more.

With a larger size than the previous one, the Screenpad 2.0 allows users to directly access built-in shortcuts in some programs (such as Microsoft Word's text editing bar, allowing you to quickly change the font or style of an underlined passage) or run other apps inside it, like a calculator or even Google Chrome, which helps a lot when you need to look up the meaning of a word without having to leave the text you are working on.

Another use for the Screenpad 2.0 is to control PC media players. For those who like to work listening to music and podcasts, it is possible to use the path to access the Spotify, allowing you to quickly change the album or playlist you're listening to with just a few taps – and, best of all, without having to leave your work screen and risk losing focus.

Among the novelties of this new version are also the functions ASUS Sync (which allows you to pair your smartphone screen with the ScreenPad, being able to view notifications and reply to messages from their own computer) and screen extender (which allows you to turn the pad into a second screen, serving as a quick fix for those who don't have an external monitor to connect to the notebook).
