After news showed that Facebook was having access to its users' data, Zoom removed some codes from the social network from its platform.

O Facebook, which already has a negative privacy history, entered into yet another controversy. Last Friday, the Zoom, a videoconferencing application, has made an update available for users of iOS (Apple) that removed some codes login to the app via Facebook.

O Zoom made this decision, as the SDK for Facebook was collecting information from users without authorization. With the login option, the social network had access to iOS version, mobile network operator, time zone, user's city and other detailed device information. “We implemented the 'Login with Facebook' feature using the Facebook SDK to provide our users with another convenient way to access our platform. However, we were recently informed that the Facebook SDK was collecting unnecessary data from the device”, said the Zoom to the Vice website.

Zoom was giving Facebook access to users' data as well as their device.

"Our customers' privacy is incredibly important to us, so we've decided to remove the Facebook SDK in our iOS client and reconfigure the feature so that users can still log in to Facebook through their browser."

Zoom said in a statement.

already to the website IT Pro, a spokesman for Facebook reported that it was normal for developers to share user details to analytics and advertising companies.

Even so, in relation to the subject, it is important to highlight that the privacy do Zoom is not clear. Whether you are a company, school or individual user, we do not sell your data.”

Although there has been this undue sharing of data, international portals have said that there was no distribution of information about the meetings of people who use the Zoom, as well as their names, contents and annotations (which would be even worse).

The app has exploded in popularity due to the quarantine, due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19). With many people working in modality home office (or “home office”, in free translation), the Zoom has been used for remote meetings. As well as the Skype or Whatsapp, with it it is possible to make group calls, releasing access for everyone with just one link.
