A 14-year-old boy was detained at his school in the United States last Monday (14th), after being accused of build a bomb. In fact, the boy had just created a digital watch.
The teenager, Ahmed Mohamed, is from Muslim origin and attends MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas. After showing his creation to the engineering professor, who recommended not showing it to any other professors, he proceeded to his classes.
However, the alarm of the digital clock began to shoot and an English teacher insisted that he show him what caused the noise. Ahmed showed the watch and the professor took it from him. Shortly afterwards, the school principal went to the classroom from Ahmed accompanied by a policeman.
O boy was arrested and removed from school. Ahmed claims he was interrogated by five different police officers and that they all asked why he was trying build a bomb.

The boy built the clock using a small circuit board, a power supply and a digital display, inside a box decorated with a hologram of a tiger.
The police announced last night that three teachers from MacArthur High School complained about Ahmed. According to local authorities, the detention was necessary “because the artifact could be a bomb disguised as a timepiece that would be placed in a bathroom or under a car” and further states that Ahmed can still be accused of having created a “fake bomb” to threaten other people.
Ahmed's father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, thinks the incident is the result of prejudice. “Because his name is Mohamed and because of 11/XNUMX, I think my son was mistreated”, he said to Dallas Morning News.
the boy went suspended from school for three days. Despite all the inconvenience, perhaps he has a very nice experience ahead of him: after learning about the case, the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has invited to visit the social network's buildings in Palo Alto and stated that he would love to meet him in person.
in a post, Zuckerberg said that “Having the skills and ambition to build something cool should lead to applause, not arrests. The future belongs to people like Ahmed.”

And it wasn't the only invitation he received. On Twitter, the president Barack Obama invited him to visit the White House. “Cool watch, Ahmed. Want to bring him to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science.”
Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great.
